DJ Mes (Jason Sutton), Oakland, California

SHORT
Jason Sutton is DJ Mes: Bay Area house DJ, producer and the man behind Guesthouse Music, the Oakland label that has kept jackin' house moving since 2004.

LONG
Bay Area bred DJ Mes rarely slows his groove. Since starting Guesthouse Music in Oakland in 2004 he has produced a long run of bass-heavy, disco-dredged tracks that keep scorching dance floors from the West Coast to Europe. As a DJ his sets are built for the body; as a producer his montage of cut-up disco, rhythm and bass creates a buzz well beyond the speakers.

His career goes back to the mid-1990s, when a young Mes took early influence from DJ Dan and Tony Hewitt and co-founded Daddy's Records. Two decades later DJ Dan would join the Guesthouse roster. Mes has released on labels like Cajual, Relief, Glasgow Underground and Salted, but it is his own Guesthouse Music that sets the pace, with hundreds of releases from artists in more than thirty countries and a steady stream of his own singles.

In 2011 Traxsource named his bumpy Chicago-flavoured "Fools Gold" (Cajual Recordings) the number one house track of the year. His ear for talent brought names like J Paul Getto, Gramophonedzie, Cosy Creatures and The Sound Republic to a wider audience, while he keeps touring the US and Europe and collaborating with producers such as DJ Sneak and DJ Dan.

"I'm always working to sign new or undiscovered music and talent to the label, and maybe even throw a curve ball to startle people with a new, unexpected style or sound. It's what it's all about."
